Brush Stroke Idea

Description

Brush Stroke Idea is enamel paint and a brush inside a lightbulb.

My series of Ideas is a social commentary on societies “throw away culture”.
The Edison light globe is a dead technology but one that had a massive impact on the world, with most of the evidence of this invention being simply trashed and replaced.

So this one is more about creativity, I was talking with an couple of artist who were talking about their university arts experience. Their lecturers seemed to be fixated on the idea that there is nothing original left, so nothing we make is new... I think this fits in well with that discussion.

Photographing this was a pain, getting the right angle to show the work and reducing the reflections on the glass.

Yes you may share my work but please always credit me.

The idea of art inside the light bulb is something I've seen rarely, but enjoy no matter its incarnation. I am left wondering about the technical aspects that often come with a sculpture: what would it look like if I could walk around it? How would it be displayed in a gallery space? What kind of lighting/background would accompany it? Is this photo your ideal vision, a test, or a make do to share this 3 dimensional piece in a digital form on the Internet? There are many questions that detract but they also add to the mystic of the piece and make it attractive.

The only major thing that really brings me to question this work is the color choice of the brush strokes inside. There are three clearly defined colors extending from the brush, but when you look into the bristles of the brush you see more colors that don't show up in the strokes made within the light bulb, which raise questions as to quality, but also hint at an implied message.

Over all, this is a very good piece, and one I would love to see a whole serious of with different brushes, different colors, in a collection series. Keep up the good work, and please continue to share with us here on DA.
