Charlie Chaplin Idea is a light bulb with the portrait of the great movie star and character Charlie Chaplin painted on it in greyscale.
There are two images painted on, so what you see is the front and back.
My series of Ideas is a social commentary on societies “throw away culture”.
The Edison light globe is a dead technology but one that had a massive impact on the world, with most of the evidence of this invention being simply trashed and replaced.
Chaplin fits into this series as an icon himself, like the light bulb to inventions. He is a pop image now though more than known as a great actor and artist. Certainly my generation, mostly, know him only as this.
Please check out my others of the series which include Nick Cave, Salvador Dali and Burton/Depp Edward Scissorhands. Up next, the broody singer/song writer Tom Waits.
